Questions about this handoff
Will an ordinary email link preview consume the note?
Loading the Vanish page does not consume it. The holder of the complete link must explicitly choose Decrypt & Reveal. Anyone who has the full link can take that action.
Can I send a reply?
After revealing the note, the recipient can create a fresh encrypted room or compose a new burn note from the recovery panel. Nothing is automatically sent back to the original sender.
Keep the delivery simple
Write only the information the recipient needs, choose an expiry and generate the link. Confirm the address or Teams recipient before pasting it. The default is five minutes; choose longer if delivery will take time.
An expiring note is different from an expiring email
The note deadline limits access through Vanish. It does not delete the email or Teams message containing the link, and it cannot erase a copy the recipient makes after opening it.
Use your organization’s approved tools
For production credentials or regulated information, follow your organization’s policies and use its approved secrets manager. Vanish has not had an independent security audit.
