VANISH PRIVATE CHAT GUIDE
Create a self-destructing secret link
Encrypt a one-open note below, without an account. Need a reply? You can also create a temporary room.
The first explicit reveal consumes the note. Loading a link preview does not. Encrypted in this browser. No signup.
Choose a note for one message
If you only need to deliver a short piece of text once, a one-open note keeps the interaction simple. Use the secret-note editor above for this. The recipient opens the link to retrieve the text, and the live note is removed on first authorized retrieval. That does not prevent them from copying what they see.
Choose a room for a back-and-forth
A Vanish room lets invite holders exchange multiple messages until its deadline. That works for confirming a plan, answering a follow-up, or coordinating a short event. The room is not a one-open note: participants can revisit it while it remains active, subject to its settings.
A quick way to decide
Ask whether the recipient must respond. If no, use a one-open note. If yes, choose a room lifetime that covers the exchange. If you need verified identity, a lasting record, or a security guarantee backed by an independent audit, choose a different service.
Privacy limits on both choices
A secret link grants access to whoever holds it. Recipients can photograph or copy content. Expiry and first-open deletion remove access to live data but do not erase devices, provider logs, or backups. Send the link directly and check that you reached the intended person.
Questions about this tool
Does a link preview burn the note?
Loading the page does not consume it. A holder of the complete link must explicitly choose Decrypt & Reveal.
Can I open a one-open note twice?
The first authorized retrieval consumes the live ciphertext, even if decryption fails. Recipient copies, provider logs and backups may remain.
