VANISH PRIVATE CHAT GUIDE
How to share a private chat link safely
A secret invite acts like a temporary password. Handle it with the same care.
1. Choose the deadline
Use the shortest room lifetime that still gives the recipient time to join and reply. Five minutes is suitable for an immediate exchange; one hour can cover live coordination. A deadline reduces the window in which the link works.
2. Confirm the recipient
Check the address or contact before sending. If identity matters, confirm through a channel you already trust. A Vanish room does not verify who is behind a browser.
3. Send the full link directly
Use a direct message or other channel you trust. Avoid public posts, group channels with unknown members, and link shorteners. The secret is part of the complete invite, so a service that handles the link may see it.
4. Consider the optional PIN
For extra friction if a link is forwarded, set a PIN and send it separately. A 4–6 digit PIN does not replace careful link handling, and the recipient still controls what appears on their device.
5. Close the loop
When the conversation is finished, the creator can end the room for everyone. If you think the invite leaked, end that room and create a fresh one. Expiry cannot undo a screenshot or copy already made.
Before you start
Do I need an account to create a room?
No. Create a free temporary room in your browser and share its complete secret invite directly.
Can recipients keep copies after expiry?
Yes. Room expiry stops access through Vanish, but it cannot erase screenshots or other copies made by recipients.
